Strong winds are expected to hit Southwestern Ontario Wednesday, with gusts reaching 90 kilometers an hour in some areas, Environment Canada says.

The federal agency issued a wind warning early Wednesday stating Norfolk and Haldimand counties and the Niagara area can expect gusts topping 90 km / h this afternoon into this evening.
Other regions in Southwestern Ontario, including Brant, Oxford, London, St. Thomas and Chatham-Kent and Middlesex, Elgin, Essex, Lambton, Huron and Perth counties are under a special weather advisory where gusts are expected between 70 and 80 km / h .
The high winds are enough to knock out power and cause damage to trees or loose objects as a cold front sweeps across the area, Environment Canada warned. Motorists are being reminded to drive safely with high winds and changing road conditions.
Wind gusts were expected to pick up overnight Tuesday to 50 km / h as temperatures drop to -2 C, the weather agency said.
As wind picks up throughout the day, Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to drop to -4 C in the afternoon.
As a few flurries move in during the evening, the forecast calls for high winds and a low of -9 C, on par with the average low of -9.4 C this time of year. The wind chill is expected to near -17 C.
