“Now is time for gathering in Europe, but also in our own country. No question is more important for Sweden’s security than how the war against Ukraine ends. Support for Ukraine is and remains the government’s foremost foreign policy task, ”Kristersson writes in post.
The Prime Minister also writes that the government had contact with all the Nordic and Baltic countries on Monday, and that the so-called NB8 circuit agrees and is strong in support for Ukraine.
“What we bring to the talks in Paris is that no discussions should be held about Ukraine without Ukraine and that support for Ukraine needs to be increased and speeded up. An agreement must be supported by Ukraine and be sustainable and long -term to deter Russia from further aggression, ”writes Kristersson.
In Paris, several prominent European leaders gather for a lightning -called meeting on the Monday after the US’s play that peace talks on Ukraine will start already this week – without Europe, but with Russia.
France’s President Emmanuel Macron hosts, and on the guest list there are leaders from Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark, as well as the EU and NATO.
Sweden together with other Nordic and Baltic countries is represented by Denmark, who is the chair of the Nordic-Baltic NB8 cooperation.
