For her mother, Jien, came by bus with her friends from the Adolphe Chérioux high school in Vitry-Sur-Seine, in Val-de-Marne. An incomprehensible response from the prefecture
After five years in France, Fadila Brahim, Jien’s mother, submitted her application for a residence permit, as authorized by law. The prefecture’s response is incomprehensible to him.
“ I worked to the right, to the left, I ran, says Fadila Brahim I volunteer everywhere, at Secours catholique, Secours populaire. I am studying in French, I am well integrated. They tell me that I have no family support here, even though all my brothers and sisters and my parents are here in France. They tell me that the children are Algerian, while they are Tunisian. I don’t know what the political reason is, it’s a quota that they want to make. I don’t actually have an answer, that’s why I can’t understand. »
Many undocumented workers or students responded to the call of high school students, mobilized more widely against the opacity and inaccessibility of the prefecture.
