Sustained knee problems are the reason why Maja Nilsson is ending her career.
“I’ve had problems with my knee since 2021 and I’ve been struggling with it ever since. It hasn’t turned out as well as I had hoped it would and now the air has gone out of me a little,” she says, according to a press release.

Maja Nilsson had hoped to end her career with the Olympics in Paris, but was never selected and was critical of the fuzzy selection criteria.
In the Olympics in Tokyo 2021, she reached the final.
“I have been able to experience all the championships, EC, WC and Olympics. I have been able to jump in so many fun competitions, travel around and meet so many people that I will be in contact with for the rest of my life,” she says.
