The incident took place at 10 a.m. in connection with a changing of the guard.
– He fell unluckily and badly in such a way that he injured himself on his own bayonet, says Björn Lindaucommunicator at the Swedish Armed Forces to TV4.
The bayonet hit the man in the head behind the ear. His colleagues reacted quickly and called an ambulance that came to the scene, then the man was driven to Karolinska hospital.
Life threatening condition
On arrival, the doctors assessed that the condition was life-threatening, but after an operation the situation should now be stable.
The police are now investigating the incident as a suspected work environment violation and causing bodily harm.
