Helsinki IFK striker Iiro Pakarinen scored three goals in the top match. Jukurit, on the other hand, broke its losing streak of six matches.
In the Ice Hockey Championship League, IFK Helsinki rose to the top of the league when it defeated Ilves 4–0 on Nordenskiöldinkatu.
Ilves, caught up in the match jam, was the chaser right at the start and fell to no fewer than three ices in the opening set. HIFK succeeded in the first of these, when Kristian Vesalainen uploaded to the top corner in 10.04.
A small market meeting was also seen in front of the goal, when Otto Latvala was Iiro Pakarinen in the neck. Vesalainen put his own spoon in the bag, who showed the referee’s hand signals to Latvala that the puck was in the goal.
Pakarinen was perhaps fired up by the noise, because he scored two goals in less than a minute at the beginning of the second period. First he hit Luke Martin great input. A moment later Jori Lehterä started the puck to Pakarinen.
Pakarinen completed his hat trick in the final set, when Lehterä released the puck with his third assist of the evening to finish the puck into the empty net.
HIFK’s first season has been special. It experienced four losses in a row at home, losing to SaiPa 4–8, among others. However, they have remained the only losses, as HIFK has also won all of its away matches.
The chick was successful
Jukurit broke its six-game losing streak in the jumbo competition, when it stole the points from Jyväskylä with goals 4–1. Suffering from illness, Jukurien’s goal was blocked by a 20-year-old Matthieu Herpinwho had previously played at the adult level for only two sets in Mestis.
However, Herpin emerged as Jukurie’s hero and saved a total of 31 times. He had to be unemployed for a long time, because Jukurit already had a 3–0 lead after the opening set. The most powerful of the Mikkelians was Peter Abbandonato with a score of 1+2.
– Absolutely incomprehensible, Herpin tells Urheilu.
– There was a great feeling in the hall anyway. I’m used to playing in A-juniors in front of a hundred spectators. Now there was a lot of people and both fan ends were making really loud noise. It was really nice to play, Herpin continued.
A tasty winning goal for Espoo
In Kouvola, Kiekko-Espoo continued its winning streak when it won 2–1 with a last-minute goal. The people of Espoo were able to play with a two-man advantage when Ville Lajunen hit the puck into the net.
Kiekko-Espoo, who have risen to third in the series, is already on a five-game winning streak. Tappara, who played three matches less, is in fourth place, one point away.
In their own home match against Lukko, Tappara won 4–2, while the superiority of the people of Tampere was poison for the people of Rauma. Tappara scored no less than three overtime goals. Two of these were virtuosos Kristian Tanunsen handwriting.
HPK and Aces to home wins
HPK snapped the Pelicans’ four-game winning streak with a 5-3 score in front of a season-high crowd of 4,076.
The youngsters of HPK’s triple chain tormented the Pelicans. The 19-year-old shone as the number one star Jesse Kiiskinen (1+2) against their parent club. 18 years old Roope Vesterinen (1+1) scored the second goal of his league career.
