The Ice Hockey League’s disciplinary delegation has ordered HIFK’s Petr Kodytek a seven-game suspension for the events of Saturday’s Ässät match.

– If that has happened, it is completely reprehensible and does not belong to our club’s values, HIFK’s head coach Ville Peltonen commented on the incident to the media when it was fresh.
In the opinion of the league’s disciplinary delegation, the Czech winger’s outrageous actions were worth a total of seven matches (6+1).
– (Kodytek’s) kick is powerful and it is performed with the tip of the skate in front. The kick hits the inside of the opponent’s leg. According to the investigation, Tiivolan was not injured, the report states.
The disciplinary group clarifies that the previous bans for kicking imposed in the hockey league have been related to game situations, and the current situation was not, in the view of the delegation, therefore completely comparable to them.
The penalty for the kick was deemed to be a six-match ban. In addition, the disciplinary delegation noted that Kodytek should be suspended for one match for showing the middle finger.
