Since 1950, the award has been given to individuals in various categories who have “made outstanding achievements in all aspects of the arts or opened a new frontier” and is one of Japan’s most prestigious awards. Hideo Kojima, who has been in the game industry for 36 years, spent most of his career within Konami. The producer, especially known for his Metal Gear Solid series, was working on the last game of Konami’s famous horror game series. Unfortunately, due to the problems with the company, Kojima parted ways with Konami, and the Silent Hills game, with its renewed name at that time, was cancelled. Kojima continues his adventure in the game industry with his own studio, Kojima Productions.
