In the early 2000s, Shia LaBeouf rose to become a megastar of blockbuster cinema. En route to starring roles in Transformers and Indiana Jones 4, he garnered a major supporting role in Constantine with Keanu Reeves. He played sidekick Chas Kramer in the 2005 fantasy flick.
Chas’ fate takes a, well, somewhat surprising turn in a hidden scene in the film. Warning, spoilers for Constantine follow.
Here’s how Shia LaBeouf’s completely bizarre comeback in Constantine unfolds
In the DC adaptation of Constantine, John (Constantine), his assistant Chas and police officer Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) go on a demon hunt. Constantine has been able to recognize angels and demons walking the earth since birth. In his youth he attempted suicide and was in hell for a few minutes as a result. He was revived against his will. Now he must cleanse himself of the mortal sin of suicide by killing demons on earth.
It all leads to a wild finale – which Shia LaBeouf’s Chas doesn’t live to see. Unfortunately, the character dies before the climax of the film. Well, that’s not too bad.

Yes indeed. Constantine has a post credit scene. A post-credits scene where Shia LaBeouf’s character returns as a poorly animated, oddly blurred, yellow-eyed angel. “You did good, kid,” says Keanu Reeves, dead serious, before he turns away and two mighty angel wings flap behind him. There is no real interaction between the characters. Whether Shia LaBeouf ever saw the cemetery where his character was buried is doubtful. The scene quickly turns twisted to tease a sequel – starring Chas as an angel whose sneaky smile says he has big plans.

Credits scenes were not as common in 2005 and their existence was not as well known among film fans as they are today. The MCU changed everything. In order to see the post-credits scene, you either had to know about it or play the DVD/video (yes, that’s a long time ago) after the film ended. Both rather unlikely scenarios.

There are a number of texts of this kind under the video. Over the years there have been more and more, some are only a few months old. By the way, several users note that Chas was an angel the whole time and was watching over Constantine. Don’t ask me if this is comic canon. But I think the theory is correct. The only important thing is: Chas is alive!
Constantine 2 is planned – with Shia LaBeouf as Angel?
Plans for a Keanu Reeves sequel to Constantine have been brewing for years. Recently they got really hot again. Unfortunately, it is still not known how and when the film could be released.
Shia LaBeouf’s involvement as Chas’ angel would be possible, but a bigger job in its own right. LaBeouf has shot himself offside with some serious offenses in recent years. There is a case against him, his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs accused him of sexual assault. In Indiana Jones 5, LaBeouf was no longer there.
