Modo is just one game away from Swedish hockey’s fine room.
Then club icon Peter Forsberg opens up about the long road there.
And his honest feelings about his favorite team Modo.
In 2016, Modo was forced to leave the SHL and Peter Forsberg described it as one of his worst days. It has been seven years since then and there have been several really tough years in the HockeyAllsvenskan.
Modo’s success
It was very close in 2020 when they reached the Allsvenskan final against Björklöven, but due to the corona pandemic, the finals were never finished. After that, Modo had three different coaches in two seasons and never came close to promotion.

But then stepped Henrik Gradin in as sports director and Matthias Karlin as the new head coach. Together, they have turned Modo into a top club to trust again and they won the HockeyAllsvenskan in grand style.

In one of the period breaks, “Foppa” visited the C More studio to give his view on today’s Modo. Then the legend really wants to highlight Gradin and Karlin’s influence on the team.
– For a while it looked like “hey come and help me”. Then I think that Henrik and Mattias click. They agree on what they think and think about the matches, says Forsberg to the television channel.
– It’s not a complaint. You don’t blame anything, but buy what the coach and GM (sports director) say. If you look at the season, you have gotten better and better.

Not worried
Djurgården won the match in Örnsköldsvik with 6-4 and now the final series is 3-2 in matches in Modo’s favor. But Foppa is not too worried yet and believes that Modo will still get the promotion in the end.
– I have also been in the situation where you can decide at home but have not done so. But there is a new match on Friday and it will be like that, says Peter Forsberg in the interview.
As early as Friday evening, it is time for the sixth final match and then we will get the answer if Modo takes the step up to the SHL or if Djurgården ties the game to 3-3 and forces a “Game 7” match.
