His lawyer, Arthur Aidala, assures us after New York Times that Harvey Weinstein made it known several times over the weekend that he was not feeling well. His counsel reportedly even wrote in an email, just before he was transferred to the hospital, that “he will die in front of you if you do nothing.” According to Rothfeld, the producer convicted of sexual assault had undergone surgery to “drain the massive amount of fluid in his lungs and heart.” He is now reportedly recovering from the operation in the hospital’s intensive care unit, saying he is “grateful to be alive,” Rothfeld reports. The judges found that he had not received a fair trial. The cause: witnesses, whose allegations were not directly linked to the accusations in this first trial. He was also sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexual violence, for acts that allegedly occurred in Los Angeles.
