A particularly gripping mindfuck gem, Source Code, is being shown on television today, which we will briefly introduce to you here. The highly intelligent sci-fi film from 2011 spreads his profound idea over a gripping thriller plot: It’s about reality construction and multiverses.
This makes for an exciting, unique mix of Groundhog Day, Edge of Tomorrow and The Commuter, enriched with brain-busting parallel universe musings that sci-fi fans will love.
Strong Sci-Fi: The plot of Source Code in a nutshell
Soldier Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up on a moving train and has to find an assassin who wants to detonate a bomb. He has eight minutes then the bomb explodes and you die. Everything starts again and Colter relives the same eight minutes: his next chance to find the bomb.

Source code is extremely constructed. Like Memento, its structure is similar to a pearl necklace. With each section you will understand more what is in it crazy sci-fi scenario happened. Looking at source code is also a learning process. That can be a bit much for a single viewing experience. A little help: Director Duncan Jones explains the ending here.
After the eye-opening and confusing ending (yes, that works), you’ll want to watch the 90 minutes again – and you should. You will not only understand what exactly happens on the train and how the time mechanics affect the perceived (alternative) reality of the characters. Admittedly, that is the one had the most fun rewatching. But you will also be able to absorb the emotions of the characters better.
