Ahmet Sanrı, a farmer in Edirne’s Karaağaç District, had a heart attack in 2016. An artificial heart machine was connected to Sanrı, who had difficult times from time to time as a result of his heart not being able to function due to his illness, in 2020. Sanrı, who has been living with the artificial heart device he has been carrying in his bag for 4 years, continues his life with the machine in his bag slung over his shoulder and the cables reaching from his body to his heart.
IT CHANGES THE BATTERY ONCE EVERY 22 HOURS
Sanrı, who changes the batteries of the artificial heart machine once every 22 hours every day, talked about his experiences before and after the machine was connected to his body.
Sanrı said that before the artificial heart device was installed, he weighed up to 150 kilograms and that his feet were swollen and that he could not walk.
THE MACHINE FILTERS AND PUMPS 4.5 KILOGRAMS OF BLOOD PER MINUTE
Explaining that the artificial heart machine attached to his body filters and pumps 4.5 kilograms of blood per minute and that he has been living his life thanks to this machine for 4 years, Sanrı mentioned that he started to continue his normal life after the machine.
“IT WILL REMAIN IN MY BODY UNTIL I DIE”
Stating that the machine is always attached to his body day and night, when he goes to bed, when he gets up, when he takes a shower, Sanrı said that the machine will remain in his body until he dies.
“I CARRY MY HEART IN MY BAG”
Explaining that his heart was in his bag, Sanrı said: “My body had swollen up to 150 kilograms. My feet were swollen and I could not walk. I had surgery. After the surgery, I can do my own business very well.”
