The horror-romantic story “Herr Arnes penningar” has been filmed several times, the best known perhaps being Mauritz Stiller’s film from 1919.
For Sara Bergmark Elfgren, it is the second time she has taken on a work by Selma Lagerlöf. The first time was the dramatization of “Bortbytingen” at Dramaten in Stockholm.
For both Bergmark Elfgren and Peter Nordahl, “Herr Arnes penningar” is a debut on the opera stage.
