Herman van Veen plays in Carre for the 600th time

On the occasion of his 600th performance in Carré, Van Veen wrote the poem below, in which he refers to his first performance in this theatre.

Hope we’re halfway there.

It was the Flemish Louis Dekker,

the then administrator of Carré,

which us from the small hall of the Concertgebouw

brought to Carr.

Debuted with an overwhelming feeling

in Carré on May 6, 1971.

Almost exploded with joy.

After that first performance, Wim Kan

“I will watch you closely

and wait to see you succeed.

I hope so and predict it.”

I will be guided in the fall

by my friends and colleagues

Edith Leerkes, Kees Dijkstra,

Jannemien Cnossen and recently graduated Lieke Meijers.

We come with stories, songs and music.

Will dance what I can dance.
