Season 3 of The Mandalorian launched on Disney+ yesterday. Din Djarin and Baby Yoda are back for new adventures in the Star Wars universe. wait, Baby Yoda? Didn’t the bounty hunter part with his protégé at the end of season 2 and the little grogu in the Care of Luke Skywalker hand over?
Yes, memories do not deceive you. When The Mandalorian went on a long hiatus in December 2021, the series’ two main characters left separate ways. But how did they get back together? The answer to this question is hidden in another Star Wars series: The Book by Boba Fett.
Star Wars Confusion: What Does Boba Fett’s Book Have To Do With The Mandalorian And Baby Yoda?
The Book of Boba Fett is a spin-off from The Mandalorian Season 2 and picks up many elements of the story. Basically we have it with not a standalone series to do, but a hybrid of spin-off, prequel and sequel to The Mandalorian.

Although a majority of The Book of Boba Fett’s seven episodes focus on the fate of the title character, there are three chapters that also focus on the main characters of The Mandalorian: Din and Grogu. In chapters 5, 6 and 7 we learn how the two got back together after the breakup.
Episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett features Din wandering the galaxy dejectedly. It’s clear in every scene that he misses Grogu. In the 6th episode he goes to the planet where Baby Yoda is found by Luke Skywalker Trained to be a Jedi becomes. Din brings him a gift: a mail shirt from Beskar.

Luke introduces his padawan before a tricky decision: Either Grogu chooses the lightsaber of the late Yoda and continues his training. Or he may opt for chain mail and return to Din. After a cliffhanger, the 7th episode brings the resolution: Grogu returns to his Mando dad.
This is where we start with the 3rd season of The Mandalorian. Din and Grogu are reunited. Jon Favreau, who is the creative mind behind both projects, has already emphasized that his Star Wars series very closely related are. This should also be exciting with regard to Ahsoka, which will start on Disney + later this year.
