And saving of toad is necessary, because the toad population is not going well, Looij also knows. Due to the increasing traffic, lack of food and a number of exotic diseases, the number of toads has been halved over the past fifteen years. “That is why it feels like we have saved an animal with every crossing,” says Van Looij.
