Here, U2 honors the victims in Israel: “Our prayers for peace”

– In light of what is happening in Israel and in Gaza, a song about nonviolence seems a little ridiculous, even laughable, but our prayers have always been for peace and nonviolence, says singer Bono in a video clip from the gig, writes The Guardian.

Labeled terrorist, Hamas’ attack on this weekend’s Supernova Festival in Israel has been described as a massacre and 260 people are said to have been killed.

Asked the audience to sing along

When Bono introduced “Pride” during the show at the Sphere in Las Vegas, he asked the audience to sing along for “our brothers and sisters – for those who themselves sang at the Supernova Sukkot festival in Israel”.

The song’s text refers to Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement, but in Las Vegas that particular verse was changed to: “Early morning, October 7, the sun is rising in the desert sky. Stars of David, they took your life but they could not take your pride.”
