Donald Trump compares his situation, including four indictments against him, to the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in Russian captivity recently.
The opinion is expressed by the Republican presidential candidate in an interview with Fox News.
– The situation with Navalny is very sad and he was very brave. He went back, he could have stayed away, Trump says, adding that it would probably have gone better for the Russian opposition leader if he had raised his voice outside of Russia.
The former president, who is embroiled in several parallel lawsuits, has repeatedly claimed to be the victim of a “witch hunt” by the political establishment, a theme he returned to during the Fox interview.
Communism or Fascism
Last week, he was ordered by a New York court to pay nearly $355 million.
– It is a kind of Navalny. It’s a kind of communism or fascism, Trump said of the ruling.
However, the presidential candidate did not mention Vladimir Putin – who is singled out by many as responsible for Navalny’s death. It is in line with Trump’s reluctance to criticize the Russian president, whom he has, on the contrary, praised many times.
