The Liseberg applause award is awarded to someone who has made Sweden a little happier.
This year it was Tommy Körberg’s turn to receive the prestigious award.
– Thank you, please, thank you very much, he says during Lotta at Liseberg.
The season’s second sing-along evening at Liseberg led by Lotta Engberg usually contained everything from humor to lovely music from both artists and audience. But during the Monday evening invited Lottery at Liseberg also on a tribute to one of Sweden’s most popular artists.
Tommy Körberg receives the Liseberg applause award
In 1979, the Liseberg applause award was awarded for the first time to someone who made Sweden a little happier. First up was Povel Ramel and since then Björn & Benny, Lena PH and Håkan Hellström have received it, among others. And this year it is Tommy Körberg’s turn to receive the prestigious award!
On site at Liseberg to hand out the award were Liseberg residents Tina Resch and Lotta Carlsbogård, who handed over Astrid Taube’s bronze sculpture of two clapping hands to the popular artist.
– He has a unique musical career, it not only constitutes an impressive resume but has also given a place in our hearts and the hearts of the entire Swedish people, reads sentences from the justification.
“I didn’t even know you had one”
It is an honored Tommy Körberg who appears on stage, but when asked if the prize is something he dreamed of, he answers:
– Honestly, I didn’t even know you had one – I’m from Stockholm, you understand.
But he is noticeably taken when the whole of Liseberg sings his song Stad i ljus in a tribute choir to him!
– Thank you, please, thank you so much, says Tommy before he steps off the stage.
