Here they celebrate the WC gold in the obelisk – at a height of 68 metres

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In the end, Lionel Messi achieved the goal of his dreams and managed to bring home the World Cup gold to Argentina after a gas-hugging final that had to be decided with the help of a penalty shootout.

The long-awaited gold has been celebrated non-stop at home in Argentina, and ahead of the players’ visit to the capital Buenos Aires on Tuesday, some fans took it a step further.

To be sure to catch a glimpse of Messi and the other golden heroes, a dedicated group climbed an obelisk – 68 meters above sea level – where they waved their country’s flag.

Since the obelisk, erected in 1936, is not open to the public, it is unclear how the fans climbed the 206 steps.

In any case, it is clear that they are guaranteed a top view at the giant celebration – if they are allowed to stay.
