On Tuesday, an American drone crashed into the Black Sea after an incident with a Russian fighter plane. Now the United States has released a video that is said to show the incident from the drone’s camera. In the video, you can see how the Russian Su-27 fighter jet flies next to the American MQ-9 drone and dumps aviation fuel on it. Then the Russian plane flies even closer – causing the camera on the drone filming the event to go off. According to the US, this should have been the occasion for the collision itself, and according to the Pentagon, the incident should have lasted 30-40 minutes, reports CNN. Russia, for its part, claims it has not been in contact with the drone. Instead, they accuse the US of flying too close to Russian territory. Serious incident in several ways According to Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lidén, the incident is serious in several different ways. – The loss of drones is financial, but above all it is perhaps how this is now put into words by the defense ministers that is the big part, he says. At the same time, Lidén points out that it is not the first time that the US has lost this type of drone. – It has happened both in Syria, Libya and Yemen before.
