About 85 runners started in the wind. And the fastest of all on the women’s side was Örebro runner Erica Lech, who surprised many earlier this year when she took SM silver in the Stockholm marathon. A mile run on New Year’s Eve was also an ordeal according to the 45-year-old.
– The wind and the ice made it perhaps not a very fast course, she says after the victory in the Sylvester race.
Awesome duel
Erica ran into the finish line 46 seconds ahead of Ella Laine from Karlskoga Friidrottsklubb – the 16-year-old giant talent who won USM gold in the 3,000 meters earlier this year. In addition, Laine is elite in orienteering, where she is at the top of Sweden for her age.
On the men’s side, the winner was Andreas Ingberg, Örebro AIK, who was completely superior during New Year’s Eve.
