Here the police are subjected to a coup – in the middle of a street race

A street race, an illegal car competition, took place on E18 in Västerås on August 7, 2021.

Now charges regarding blue light sabotage have been brought against a 35-year-old man.

He, along with several other motorists, is suspected of having blocked the police who were trying to catch up with the street race participants. The blockade, which according to the police consisted of both spectators and racing drivers, prevented the police patrols by, among other things, driving three cars abreast.

“The way they drove made it difficult even for the public and taxis to get past. The cars were not driving at the posted speed, but were going slower,” one of the police officers wrote in a report afterwards.

According to the investigation, the accused man, who was driving a BMW, did not move – despite the police using both sirens and blue lights. He himself denies any crime.

The trial begins at Västmanland District Court at the end of February.
