Snowboarder Ian Steger was saved from being buried alive in the deep snow cover. Film from the rescue operation shows the dramatic seconds before Steger is freed. – Oh my God. Are you okay? can you breathe Snowboarder Ian Steger went off-piste in the deep powder snow in the state of Washington, USA. Suddenly he disappeared into the deep snow headfirst and did not manage to get up. By chance, the skier Francis Zuber happens to take the same track between the trees and sees Steger’s feet sticking up. Zuber then begins the dramatic rescue effort that was caught on film. “Thanks for that man” Francis Zuber posted the video on social media to warn others about the danger of so-called “tree wells”, which is the lack of dense layers of snow that occur around trees when they have snowed heavily in a short period of time. In clips, Steger’s first words are heard when his head is dug out of the snow. – Thanks for that, man, I’m fine, he says. The clip he has gone viral and Zuber says he is grateful that he had sufficient knowledge to be able to unearth the man – and that it was a happy ending. Watch the video in the player above.
