The celebration of King Carl Gustav will traditionally take place in the outer castle garden at Stockholm Palace, where the king will receive the high guard at 12.45.
Then, at 1 p.m., a 21-shot salute is fired from the cannons on Skeppsholmen. Exactly 21 salute shots are fired only for the head of state, the nation and other royalty.
After the salute, the king comes out into the outer courtyard, and then children are given the opportunity to celebrate the king by giving him flowers.
