In a clip published on X/Twitter, you can hear how the Icelandic commentator goes completely crazy when Ståhl pulls off his throw. It is difficult to understand exactly what the commentator is saying, but at least it is possible to understand that he is saying that the whole thing is “outrageous!”.
How it is that Ståhl is so popular in the Icelandic discus world is unclear, but Ståhl’s former coach, Vésteinn Hafsteinsson, is from Iceland, and perhaps the interest may have arisen there. At least it is clear that Ståhl deserves every bit of praise in the world after his incredible performance in a vulnerable position to say the least.
