The clip when the brown bear “breaks” into the hotel and then starts looking for food behind the reception desk has gone viral in China. The bear is not exactly discreet and makes noises that wake up the receptionist who has laid down to take a nap. The receptionist first turns around and takes a while to realize what’s happening, then waits for the bear to turn around before taking his cell phone and sneaking out the back way. Focused on the snack shelf Fortunately, the bear seemed to be fully focused on the snack shelf, and did not chase after the frightened receptionist. The Hong Kong-based newspaper South China Morning Post writes that it happens that bears approach people in western China when they are looking for food, but that it is relatively rare that people get hurt.
