Farmer Johan Lindgren in Uppland, when SVT Nyheter visits him, is about to spray his field with the herbicide glyphosate. It is a total pesticide that kills all green leaves. Because on this field, Johan Lindgren wants to clean it of weeds in order to sow autumn grain soon, it is grain that is sown in the fall instead of in the spring.
– If I wasn’t allowed to use pesticides then I would have to thresh the field several times to get rid of the weeds. In addition, I would not be able to grow grain after grain in principle, but then I would have to come in with other intermittent crops. That would result in less profitability.
