Santa feels out of date and wants to renew himself. He therefore makes a turbo sled – but then everything goes wrong.
This is the introduction to this year’s Christmas calendar from SVT Minoritet. How the story should end is now being worked on by the children at Gällivare Sami school, among others.
They write and paint. Then it is fed into an AI that portrays what the children come up with.
“The children are experts”
The end result will be a juke calendar in 24 episodes that will be broadcast on SVT2 in December. The viewers will be able to follow along as the children create, their portrayal and, in parallel, how this fairy tale takes shape as well as personal portraits.
In this project, SVT Minoritet wants to highlight the story, reality, everyday life and knowledge of Sami middle school children.
– The children have worked very well. They know what this region is about, what applies here and what different things to take note of. So they are the experts in this context, then only the AI comes in and enhances the whole thing, says producer Simon Staffans.
