– Now we have finally received a ruling that allows us to remove the boat by force. We take the boat apart, ship the parts away and then we invoice the owner for the cost, says Andreas Schönström (S), municipal councilor in Malmö.
The boat has been at Glasbrukkajen in Limhamn since it was damaged by a hurricane at the end of January this year. The police have urged the owner to remove the boat and wrote an injunction at the end of March.
Owner unhappy
The owner of the boat has objected that it is not blocking traffic and that it is only there temporarily until it is repaired. But the administrative court decided in May to give the police authority the right.
– The important thing is that we get order and order in Limhamn, that the residents get their walking path back. The boat poses an environmental risk but also a risk for people walking there. Should it tip over, it could mean major damage to visitors. It is simply dangerous to put a boat in that way, says Andreas Schönström (S).
