Here, the Avicii foundation opens a music studio in Uppsala for young people

In the music studio, young people between the ages of 13 and 19 will be allowed to record music, free of charge and with no requirement for prior knowledge.

The studio is located in the premises for Uppsala city mission’s youth work – where the city mission offers conversation support, homework reading and job searching – and becomes part of it.

– It is part of our concept with the music studio venture. We want there to be room for conversation and support about mental health in a natural way with young people, says Klas Bergling, who started the Tim Bergling foundation after the death of his son, the world artist Avicii, in 2018 to prevent mental illness.

“Tim would have liked this”

The studio is designed by Avicii’s studio designer who also created his studio in Los Angeles. The Uppsala studio will be the fifth free studio for young people that the Tim Bergling foundation creates, after Tensta, Umeå, Gävle and Sundsvall. The goal is ten around the country.

The fact that it will be Uppsala is because there is a great need for gathering places for young people where they can be creative, according to the Uppsala city mission.

– It’s in our DNA. Tim would have liked this very much, says Klas Bergling.

Come along into the studio in the clip and hear Klas Bergling about the venture.
