Here Systembolaget sells the most beer in Sweden

A lot has happened since Systembolaget was formed in 1955, after the criticized counterpart book was scrapped.

Nowadays, the state-owned company has as many as 5,626 employees and roughly 452 stores, which were visited 128 million times in 2023, according to System company’s own statistics.

The most sold product category is beer. Recent statistics, for the quarter April-June, show the following sales in 1000s of liters per product group:

  • Beer: 80,815
  • Wine: 54,773
  • Cider and mixed drinks: 9,159
  • Spirits: 6,120
  • Non-alcoholic: 1,113

    The counties where the most beer was sold

    But where in the country do you actually buy the most beer? At the top we find, not entirely unexpectedly, the metropolitan counties of Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne. In fourth place is the county of Värmland.

    The least amount of beer is sold in Kronobergs län, Blekinge län and Gotland län.
