Here SVT’s reporter talks to the digital intelligence “Adam”

It is not easy to talk to an artificial intelligence that looks like a human. It will be a bit like a digital meeting at work where everyone talks to each other.

The research project WASP in Sweden has developed the “avatar”. To help them, they have the Berzelius supercomputer in Linköping and technology from a couple of large international tech companies. The result has been the digital avatar “Adam” which, like ChatGPT, can answer anything – but with human speech instead of written text.

– We do it to learn, but in the long run, an AI with a human face should be able to support, for example, teachers, psychologists and care administrators, says Johanna Björklund, researcher at Umeå University.

Hear the researcher explain why “Adam” sometimes has a tendency to interrupt his questioners.
