The first round of Russian tactical nuclear weapons are in place in Belarus. Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed this yesterday when he answered questions below International Economic Forum in St Petersburg.
According to Putin, the transfer of tactical nuclear weapons will be completed in the coming months. But at the moment there is no plan for them to be used, according to the president.
– It is a deterrent measure so that anyone thinking of imposing a strategic defeat on Russia should not forget the current situation, Putin said.
The US does not change
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Putin’s move does not change the US position on the issue and that there are now “no indications that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons”.
