The artist Maxida Märak has made hits such as “Nu Brinner Ängarna”, “Nikesunnas Joik” and “Dimma”.
In the summer of 2021, she was also in the TV4 program So much better where she interpreted songs like “Eloise” and “I’ll be back for Christmas”.
In Friday’s episode of På Spåret, she was a guest artist. There you got to see a completely new side of Märak when, together with Johnossi, she performed the song “Killing in the Name” by the metal band Rage Against The Machine.
– It was incredibly fun and above all because Johnossi are so insanely talented and terribly professional. They are some of the best musicians we have in Sweden, she tells SVT Sápmi.
“Love this song”
And performing a song in a completely different genre in a different way to an audience used to seeing her was a fun experience, she says.
– It is absolutely not my genre and it was very exciting because when I first learned about it, I thought that this could be embarrassing, she says and continues:
– But I love this song and the message in it I can absolutely relate to. And in my eyes it became more punk than rock and I think people can understand why I can do this song without it being weird, there are a lot of people who wouldn’t have been able to deliver it truthfully.
Performed in colt
Maxida Märak also performed in black, which was the first time.
– I have never before appeared in public in black and that for a reason. But this time it felt like the absolute best opportunity.
Why did you choose to have the colt at this time?
– People can probably figure that out, says Maxida Märak.
