New photos show how 42-year-old Linköping resident Marcus Wandt arrives in a helicopter at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida before the launch.
It was a happy Swede who waved to those who were there and after a while he jumped into a Tesla car to drive towards the spacecraft.
With three more astronauts, he will be launched into space in the Falcon 9 at 22:49 Swedish time. If all goes well, Marcus Wandt will be the third Swede in space.
Been in quarantine for three weeks
Along with his colleagues, he has been in quarantine for three weeks to make sure they are healthy for the launch. In addition, they do not want to bring any contagion with them to those who are already on the International Space Station ISS.
The postponement would actually have taken place on Wednesday at 23.11 Swedish time. But everything was cancelled. The reason was that the parachutes for the space capsule had to be checked.
SpaceX wrote that the advance time gave them “more time for our team to complete checks and data analysis of the vehicle.”
Follow the entire launch
TV4 Play will broadcast the entire launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida starting at 22:35.
