Here, Joe Biden is wrong – confusing Iraq with Ukraine

When US President Joe Biden has to answer questions from journalists about the war in Ukraine – things go a little wrong. The president happens to say that the war is going on in Iraq.

On Tuesday, Joe Biden met the press in the US capital, Washington. One of the journalists asks how Russian President Putin has weakened after recent events.

– It’s hard to say, but it’s clear that he’s losing the war in Iraq, Joe Biden replies.

But he is not the first American president to mix up the countries. During a speech last May, former President George Bush made exactly the same mistake.

It was during an appearance in Dallas that George Bush in a speech condemned the war in Ukraine.

– …the result is a failure to hold Russia accountable, and a single man’s decision to order a completely unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq, Bush said.

However, the ex-president quickly realized his mistake and corrected himself.

Stumbled as he was leaving the stage

The 80-year-old president has on several occasions become an internet phenomenon when he falls or says the wrong thing.

A little less than a month ago, Joe Biden tripped as he was leaving the stage after a speech at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.

White House press secretary Ben LaBolt wrote after the incident on Twitter that the president tripped over a sandbag.
