Here is the winner of the sand sculpture festival in Kalmar

During Friday, the winner of the sand sculpture festival in Kalmar was named. After five days of work, the sand sculptures are ready and the people and a jury have voted for their favorite.

The jury and the people agreed that it was Calixto Molina with his sand sculpture “Dancer Maya” who was the clear winner. Calixto Molina has traveled from Mexico to join and participate for the first time.

– I am so happy, there are a lot of emotions. I want to thank everyone who voted for me, says Calixto Molina.

Message

The sculpture “Dancer Maya” shows a shaman praying for a good rainy season and is about how dry it is in the northern parts of Mexico where the people pray for rain.

– I have thought about this idea for a very long time. I appreciate that people like my work, says Calixto Molina.

Weather and wind permitting, the sand sculptures will remain for several weeks.
