Your favorite belt is a bit too long? TikTok obviously has the solution.
Much more than a simple accessory, the belt is a true ally of our wardrobe. It reveals its full fashion potential to hold pants up, add structure or visually mark the waist. But who has never found himself with a belt too long which hangs disgracefully? To make sure that doesn’t happen again, user @americantreads shared a very simple and very effective trick on his TikTok account. No need to cut your belt or add a hole, just follow these steps:
- Put on his pants.
- Slip the belt through the loops.
- Tighten the belt to your liking.
- Place the tooth of the belt down.
- Pass the belt through the buckle.
- Thread the belt through the loops.
- Pass the end behind the belt.
- Tuck the end into the loop just created.
- Easy as pie, right? And your belt will now stay in place in style.
Other tips for wearing a belt that is too long
As if one trick wasn’t enough, @americantreads reveals two more. Techniques so simple that we wonder how we hadn’t thought of them before. To make the first one, simply take a hair elastic (transparent or tone on tone preferably). Before putting on your belt, you slip it around and insert the protruding end inside. The latter will then act as a passer-by. The second tip provided is useful for belting a blazer or a coat, for example. The only tool you will need: Double-sided tape. Once the belt is around the waist, simply stick a piece of tape inside the end and position it against the rest of the belt. There you go, you have no more excuses for wearing a garment that is too big. Effective and aesthetic!
