Here is the oven where wild boars are to be burned to stop swine fever

The recycling facility was closed to the public at lunchtime on Monday following a decision from the Swedish Agency for Agriculture. The reason is to reduce the spread of infection via private individuals who throw rubbish inside the recycling from the wild boars who stay inside the Sänkmossen at night.

– But the garbage disposal continues as usual, we want to take advantage of the fact that the wild boar stay there and not scare them away, says Lars Björk, hunting management consultant at the Västmanland Hunters’ Association.

Hundreds of wild boars will be burned

The plan is to demarcate an area in the large, infected zone by searching for carcasses, which will then be fenced off. In that area, protective hunting will then take place to eliminate wild boar there completely.

– Exactly how many are involved is difficult to say, the hunters have managed to shoot down the tribe in the past year. But it is about a hundred wild boars that will be burned, says Lars Björk.

In the clip: “Gathering until we have enough to burn” – here is the oven that will cremate the dead wild boars.

That’s how African swine fever made its way to Fagersta.
