Here is the new “swish” service – then you can use it in Sweden

Here is the new swish service then you can

Today, Swish has over eight million users, and it is no longer only possible to send money to friends, but it can also be used as a means of payment in many stores.

The widespread use of Swish has meant that even fraudsters have found ways to use the payment app to cheat people out of money. The frauds have become so common that the government demanded that Swedish banks act to make it safer to use the app.

Going forward, it will therefore be possible, among other things, to introduce time delays for transactions made with Swish.

Something that has been talked about for a long time, but which is now becoming a reality, is the possibility to send money with your phone number between the neighboring Nordic countries.

Previously, there were three apps in direct payment in the Nordics: Norwegian Vipps, Swedish Swish and Danish Mobile Pay, which was also active in Finland. A year and a half ago, Vipps and Mobile Pay merged, and now the joint service Vipps Mobilepay is ready.

On June 19, the payment service will be launched in Denmark, Norway and Finland, but the Swedish people will have to wait to “swish” their neighbors.

– We have not set a date, but plan to launch it this autumn, says Kari Kjær, Nordic head of external communication at Vipps, to News24.

When Vipps is launched in Sweden, it will be possible to download the app and send money to Norway, Denmark and Finland, but also to other Swedish users, just as it works with Swish today.

But it won’t be free.

– It will cost, but we will tell you exactly what the cost will be when we are closer to launch, says Kari Kjær.

Does Swish hook up?

Vipps Mobilepay has tried to get Swish on board.

– We wanted to include Swish in order to create a common Nordic platform. It would have been the easiest for both people and entrepreneurs in the entire Nordic region, says Kari Kjær.

According to Jenny Ragnartzcommunicator at Swish, the company views a Nordic collaboration positively.

– But we have no details about what form and when in time to share. Today we have a collaboration with them within the framework of EMPSA, with the ambition of enabling Swish users to Swish Vipps Mobilepay users and vice versa.
