The Ministry of National Education has just unveiled part of the list of school supplies to buy for the start of the school year in September 2023. Here is the model already available for students entering college.
As the start of the new school year approaches, which falls on Monday September 4, 2023, the Ministry of National Education usually publishes a typical list of school supplies. The model is developed according to the teachers’ requests, but above all taking into account the family budget, which is affected by inflation, the weight of the school bag and the practical and recyclable side of the products. This year, being no exception, the Ministry revealed on its website the list of school supplies for the start of the 2023 school year. Once again, to reduce the financial cost that these purchases represent and the weight of the binder, it has been simplified. For now, only the list of college supplies is available. The one for primary and high school should be unveiled soon.
The list of school supplies for college
In detail, the list of school supplies for students entering college in September 2023 is as follows:
- 1 small draft notebook
- 1 set of clear perforated pockets (21 x 29.7 cm)
- 1 pack of large tile perforated loose sheets (21 x 29.7 cm)
- 1 pack of large square perforated double copies (21 x 29.7 cm)
- 1 diary
- 1 pencil case
- 1 metal or plastic compass
- 1 transparent plastic protractor with double graduation (0° to 180°)
- 1 transparent plastic square (21 cm)
- 1 flat ruler
- 12 colored pencils
- 1 correction pen
- 1 tube of glue
- 1 pair of scissors with a round metal tip
- 1 pencil sharpener
- 1 eraser
- 2 pencils
- 4 ballpoint pens (blue, black, red and green)
- 1 “college” type calculator
Depending on each discipline, your child will also need either1 large-format exercise book, large squares or small squares for mathsor either1 large flexible binder (21 x 29.7 cm) with a series of dividers. Also note that the list of supplies will be available online on the home page of the school’s website and on the digital workspace (ENT). It will also be physically displayed often in front of the school.
Additional school supplies for college
In the list of the ministry, 4 types of supplies including clothing appear there:
- 3 brushes of different sizes (n°6, 10, 14 or n°4, 10 and 16)
- 5 tubes of gouache (primary colors)
- 1 pair of running-type shoes for PE
- 1 outfit suitable for sports practice
The Minister of National Education supports the group purchasing actions in conjunction with parent-teacher associationsin particular “supply packs” or “college kits” which allow, depending on the offers, to reduce expenses related to the start of the school year.
Furthermore, theback-to-school allowance (ARS 2023) also exists for families who meet the eligibility criteria. It is usually paid in August to be able to make the necessary purchases before the start of the school year. This year, with the revaluation of 1.6% since April 1, 2023, the amounts of aid have been revised upwards. From now on, it is 398.09 euros for children aged 6 to 11, 420.06 euros for those aged 11 to 14, and 434.60 euros for adolescents aged 15 to 18.
