Here is the food you should have at home in

In the event of a crisis, it is important to have essential goods at home – above all food. But the type of food and how it is packaged is relevant.

News24 have talked to Anna Wennerström who works at the Swedish Agency for Community Protection and Preparedness (MSB) on how to approach food storage in the event of a crisis.

This is how much cash you should have at home

What kind of food is suitable for storing for a longer period of time?

– Energy-rich and sustainable food that can be prepared quickly, requires a small amount of water or that can be eaten without cooking, says Wennerström and gives examples:

– It can be, for example, dry goods, cans, crackers, crusts, nuts, pasta, energy bars, soups, rice and soft cheese in tubes.

As far as the packaging is concerned, dry goods and cans are the best option. The food should ideally be able to be stored without a refrigerator or freezer, in the event that the electricity is cut out.

– Food that can be stored at room temperature and does not require extensive cooking are suggestions for good emergency food.

Now the civil duty is activated – cannot be refused

How much food should you have at home?

– You can start from your own needs and possibilities. Try to prepare your home preparations so that you can get by for about a week without the help of society, says Wennerström to Nyheter24.
