Timrå IK has started a campaign to recruit a returnee.
The SHL club has not mentioned who it is about – but one detail hints at a particular player.
It has been no secret that Timrå IK is looking for Jonathan Dahlén. The Swede was not extended with the San José Sharks after the NHL season, and has since been at home in Sweden.
Want to raise over half a million
Timrå, which Jonathan Dahlén represented for six seasons in the Hockeyallsvenskan, have been open about wanting to sign the star back. And the club has now launched a fundraiser to bring back an unnamed returnee.
It started last Saturday and the goal is to reach up to SEK 600,000 to secure the returnee. Among other things, Timrå has written on its website that the contract is ready and that the only thing missing is the last part of the financing.
The detail that reveals Dahlén?
On their Twitter account, the club has frequently updated the amount of money they have raised. And there is a certain detail in each update that suggests that Jonathan Dahlén is the returnee.
Namely, in all posts, the number collected ends with “54” – which was Jonathan Dahlén’s jersey number in Timrå. It now remains to be seen if Jonathan Dahlén will play in Timrå next season.
The Swede accounted for 93 points in 60 games in the 2020/21 season when Timrå took the step up to the SHL.
