Here is a new electric car for SEK 110,000 – coming to Europe

Here is a new electric car for SEK 110000

The car in question is called the Nammi 01 EV, and has been launched by the state-owned Chinese car manufacturer Dongfeng.

It is about a small hatchback which according to Motor Trend is supposed to come to Europe in the next year.

The range is up to 430 kilometers, and prices start at 74,800 yuan, corresponding to around SEK 110,000.

Volkswagen’s cheap electric car is delayed – because of the EU

A new car brand

Nammi is Dongfeng’s new car brand for compact electric cars, and the 01 EV is, as the name suggests, the brand’s first model.

In terms of size, the car plays in the same league as the upcoming European electric small cars Citroën e-C3 and Volkswagen ID.2.

Perhaps the clearest sign that the Nammi 01 EV is coming to Europe is that car importer Daniel Kirchert, who imports other Dongfeng models, has said the car is built to meet European safety requirements, according to Ward’s Auto.

Modest performance

Underpinning the 01 EV is Dongfeng’s Quantum Architecture’s S3 platform, and on the performance front, the car is far from a powerhouse.

The output is 95 horsepower and the top speed is a modest 140 kilometers per hour.

For the basic price of approximately SEK 110,000, you get a battery of 31.5 kWh, which gives a range of 330 kilometers.

To reach a range of 450 kilometers, you have to add around SEK 40,000 for the larger battery of 42.3 kWh.

Richly equipped

This is a range that few small electric cars on the market today can deliver, and despite the low price, the car is also not very spartanly equipped.

The MMI system can be updated wirelessly and resides on a 12.8-inch touchscreen. The instrument housing also consists of a screen, which has a size of 5 inches.

The standard equipment also includes adaptive cruise control, self-driving and automatic parking, as well as a host of security systems.

There is a catch

Getting a brand new electric car with such a good range for what is, in the context, a spit thief may sound enticing, but unfortunately there is a catch.

It is about the fact that the price is expected to be considerably higher in Europe than in China, and land at around SEK 280,000.

This means that the Nammi 01 EV lands at roughly the same price as competitors from Citroën and Volkswagen.
