The Colorado Avalanche has finally got to celebrate the Stanley Cup win with its city.
Then Gabriel Landeskog took the opportunity to lace up a Sweden flag – and owned the show.
– We love you !, Landeskog shouted during his speech.

Gabriel Landeskog was one of the happiest players after the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup earlier this week. It’s a big deal for everyone to finally be able to lift the dent, but it’s easy to understand that it meant a little extra to Gabbe.

Owned the party

He became team captain in Colorado almost ten years ago, and then became the youngest captain in NHL history. And since then, it has been a roller coaster, when it comes to results and performance.

Just a few years ago, Colorado’s worst team was in terms of points, and Landeskog was then forced to stand at the forefront as team captain and respond to the failure. But now, after a truly outstanding season, they have finally got to celebrate the Stanley Cup win. And Gabriel Landeskog has become the second Swedish team captain ever to lift the dent.

“We love you!”

And yesterday, Avalanche finally got to celebrate with its city. A traditional parade was held through Colorado, and over 100,000 people took to the streets to celebrate with their heroes. And Gabriel Landeskog really took his responsibility as team captain – and wholly owned the party. Landeskog totally owned the stage, and it was extra powerful that he did it constantly with a Sweden flag tied around his body.

Landeskog also stepped forward in front of the huge crowd and gave a small speech, where he roared:

– This is Denver for you, we love you so damn much!

Talk about celebrating with dignity!
