Here, Elsa, 84, gets to receive the money from the swish collection

The support for Elsa, 84, the woman who was raped by a man in the domestic service, has been great since she chose to appear in the media.
During Friday, she received SEK 581,000 from the Swish fundraiser that was organized with the aim of giving her compensation.
– I am completely dazed. Many, many thanks, says Elsa
UNT.

TV4 has previously reported on UNT’s disclosure of rapes within the domestic service in Uppsala. She, who was called “Vera” in the media, came forward at the end of November as Elsa, 84, and was the woman who was allegedly raped by a man in the domestic service.

During Friday, she received SEK 581,000 from the Swish fundraiser organized by the lecturer and former police officer, Mustafa Panshiri, in order to give her compensation.

– Thank you. Many, many thanks, says a moved Elsa to UNT.

Over 4,000 people have contributed

The support for Elsa has been massive after she appeared at UNT. One of those who reacted was Mustafa Panshiri, who the day after Elsa entered, started a fundraiser for Elsa. Like many others, he had been upset by Elsa’s story and how Uppsala Municipality had ignored her.

“Let’s help Elsa get some of her dignity back. The money from the fundraiser goes directly to Elsa, to give her the support and respect she deserves,” wrote Mustafa Panshiri on Instagram in connection with the fundraiser’s launch.

“Together we can show Elsa that she is not alone,” he added.

According to Panshiri, over 4,000 people contributed to the week-long fundraiser.

Was raped in her own home

It was last spring that Elsa was raped in her home by a man from the domestic service. At the end of November, she chose to go out with her name and image because she was disappointed with the municipality’s actions – but also because she wanted to help other vulnerable women.

– Maybe I can go ahead and take on other women’s shame so that they also dare to tell, Elsa said then.

Already in the fall of 2023, Elsa alerted a manager in the home service that an employee had exposed herself to her. Despite that, he was allowed to continue working – six months later, the man allegedly raped Elsa.

– I was subjected to a rape that was like no other. And nobody – nobody cared about it in the municipality or the home care, Elsa told UNT.
