Here, dismissed staff from Northvolt are bused to Malå – in the hope of a new job

During Friday, a labor market and recruitment fair was held in Malå. About 20 employers were at the fair to talk to job seekers, including people who had been made redundant at Northvolt.

The fair is a collaboration between Northvolt, Malå municipality and Skellefteå municipality. Hopeful job seekers who previously worked at Northvolt were invited to the event.

The people from Northvolt got free bus travel to and from Malå. About 40 people are estimated to have traveled with the bus and participated in the fair.

– I could absolutely move to Malå if I got a job here, says Farhan Ayoub, who previously worked at Northvolt.

Malå municipality calls for competence

Former Northvolt employees were invited to the event. According to Anna-Karin Horney, labor market manager Malå municipality, the municipality is in need of competence. Right now, Malå municipality has 26 vacancies, a large part of the positions call for electronics engineers.

– In Västerbotten we must help each other with this challenge, says Anna-Karin Horney.
