In his speech in Pittsburgh in the important swing state of Pennsylvania, Barack Obama criticized Trump’s way of constantly belittling his opponents.
– It is not a sign of strength to try to pressure political opponents, was one of Obama’s messages.
Not thinking about the voters
But there were more boots against Trump. Obama accused Trump of thinking only about himself and not about the living conditions of voters.
As an example, Obama brought up the finances for parents of young children.
– Most of you know that having children is tough. She (Harris) wants to make it easier to afford things like a crib. Or a car seat. Or diapers.
– I remember when I bought diapers. I remember the first time I walked into the store, when Malia was a newborn, and I was like, “What? Do diapers cost that much?”.
Laughed at diapers
When Obama then went on to say “Do you think Donald Trump has ever changed a diaper?”, the audience laughed and some shouted “their own”.
After much laughter in the audience and a long moment of silence, Obama replied:
– I was close to saying it, but decided I shouldn’t say it, Obama said.
Footnote: In the 2008 and 2012 elections, Barack Obama won Pennsylvania. In the 2016 election, Trump won. In the last election in 2020, the state became democratic again when Joe Biden won by a narrow margin. Even in this year’s election, the battle for Pennsylvania looks to be fierce.
